Thanksgiving has come and gone! That was fast. Our sweet friends the Teachs came to visit us in Tucson. Their visit was fast and furious but always filled with lots of fun and laughs (and maybe a few melt downs too.) We had a great turkey day. Yummy food. So much to be thankful for.

These were the only pics of their visit. The kiddos running around at sunset waiting for the turkey to be served. I guess that means we had SO much fun right? Too busy to even get the camera out!

We woke up to rain and cooler weather last week. What a treat! It was SO chilly though. So chilly we needed our winter gear. We busted out the big guns....hooded sweatshirts and rain boots.

Apparently it wasn't chilly enough to put pants on though...

Saturday night we kicked off the Halloween festivities with our annual play group party. It was a great time with yummy food, fun games and awesome friends. Here are some pics from the night.

We carved our pumpkins on Thursday night. This took a little longer than we had planned. Who knew the Dremmel would add time to the process? After we cleaned them out Daddo took over the artistic process. We ate, showered, read stories and finally went to bed before they were done. Whew. But we did wake up to some great faces and even better ones lit up!

Sandwich Squad

This fall, we joined a group called the "Sandwich Squad". Every two months we get to make sack lunches for the Women's and Children's shelter of Tucson. We put together a yummy lunch of sandwiches, fruit, snacks and a drink. We even got to decorate the bags ourselves. After everything was packed we delivered the lunches to the shelter for those in need. This past weekend was our first "lunch pack". We had a great time working together as a family and helping others. Two thumbs up!

My first fall soccer game was this past Saturday. By the time we arrived at the field (for the 10:00 game) it was nearly 90 degrees. Ugh. We drank lots of water and battled through it though! Since I am now four we play on a bigger field, and have four, 10 minute quarters. Woah! But that also means we get to have snack and drinks at half time AND at the end of the game. BONUS.

One needs to get pretty creative this time of year...still in the upper 90's outside which equals getting a little stir crazy in the house. By this point mom really lets our creative juices flow. One morning when she was doing laundry this is what she came out to find. A train built out of pillows, blankets, stuffed animals and laundry baskets. Brilliant!

Star of the Week

It was my turn to be "Star of the Week" at school. I was so excited! I have been anxiously awaiting the lovely yellow and circle box. Every week I would ask mom when it was going to be my turn? When was Ms. Cindy going to ask the class to drumroll and call out my name? When could I put my beloved items inside that box? Oh, the joy! October 5th was my lucky day. I was able to fill out the special posters with my name and favorite things. I drew a picture of my family and what I wanted to be when I grow up (a firefighter is the choice this month). I was able to take a favorite toy (my airplane transformer) and present it all to the class. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Can I do it again?

I am officially a student of Sunshine Preschool. Hooray! I have been wanting to go to school for over a year now and I FINALLY got to see what it was all about. I did have some pre-first day jitters and even squeezed out a few tears but by morning I decided I was going to be brave and headed to school. And I am so glad I did! We did all kinds of fun things but my favorite things were recess and watching the teachers use their walkie talkies. :) Here are a few pics from the big day.

We had a science lesson with our playgroup friends the other day. We learned about dry ice and what happens to it when you add different liquids to it. We loved adding dish soap and making dry ice bubbles the best. What a fun day of learning!

What is a perk about living in the Arizona desert? We live at the base of a lot of mountains. So, if you are tired of the heat, just pack up the car and head on up to the top. 100 degrees at the bottom and 30 minutes later....a refreshing 67. Delightful. Refreshed. Happy.

We had lunch at Mr. An's Japanese Steakhouse this past weekend. WOW! What a great time. Our chef started the meal out with a BIG fire and then some throwing of spatulas and cooking tools. Next he dumped food into piles on the grill, threw eggs around, flipped meat and made a volcano out of an onion. That is talent!! We clapped and ate and laughed. Serious fun day.

We just finished our two week swim school with our favorite teacher, Miss Margaret. We were so lucky to have found her this summer! Before lessons we were using swim tubes and floaties in the pool. Just after eight days look what we can do!

Baby Lincoln is here! He was born on June 1st weighing 9 pounds 1 oz. What a big boy! He is so sweet and cuddly. We were so excited to welcome him to the family.

Here we are at our very first professional baseball game (it was just triple A but who is really paying attention to all those details?). The Stormchasers are the farm team for the Kansas City Royals which was fun because that is where Daddo is from! We loved everything about the game--the foam fingers, the cherry slushies, the popcorn, the cotton candy, the mascots...oh and the actual game of course! Good times had by all.

Even though it was a month ago, we are still talking about the fun we had visiting Grammie and Papa in Iowa. We met our new baby cousin, Lincoln, we played, we went to a baseball game, we played, we went the zoo, we played with our cousin Lilly, did I mentioned we played? A lot? Such a great visit. Can't wait to go back!

We seem to be collecting family members around here. Meet the newest member of the family...Eve to complete the Wall-E duo (for those of you that don't know, Wall-E is our fish and now we have a worm named Eve. Eve is Wall-E's love in the movie. How appropriate. :) A fish, a worm, circle of life--get it? Bad joke?).

The benefit of a tomato plant...an abundance of worms. Who is willing to bet a few more worms will join our household before this summer is over?

Nana and Papa Bear

Nana and Papa Bear came out over the weekend to celebrate Easter and Nana Bear's birthday. What a fun time. We had lots of snuggles, a few coughs and colds, gymnastics, a tee-ball game, yummy snacks, fun presents, visits to the local museums, a birthday party and an Easter Bunny visit. Whew! While Nana and Papa Bear were here we visited the Desert Museum. We were able to see the reptile show and pet lizards, snakes and turtles. Awesome! The lizard was the crowd favorite, with the hummingbirds a close second.

Flat Stanley

Flat Stanley is a book written by Jeff Brown. In this funny story a boy named Stanley Lambchop is flattened by a bulletin board. He doesn't get hurt but the doctor measures him at four feet tall, a foot wide and a half an inch thick! Stanley has many adventures. He gets mailed to California, flies like a kite and even pretends to be a painting to catch sneak thieves. In the end his brother inflates him back to normal with a bicycle pump.

Our own Flat Stanley came to visit us in Tucson. Our cousin Grant from Missouri is reading Flat Stanley for a class project. He mailed him to us and we had the opportunity to take him on one of our park play dates. He came at a perfect time. The weather has been gorgeous and we were outside a lot. We sent him home with a sunburn and a few band-aids (cactus can be rough on a body made out of paper). We had fun Stanley! Hope you can come back and visit soon.

Coleman and I just finished up our first session of gymnastics and we are hooked! I think I have found my calling--a place where my true inner monkey can come out. Mom and I get to do gymnastics together first and when my class is over Coleman gets to do it by himself. Can you believe he is big enough to do that? I can't WAIT until I am big enough to do that. F-U-N.

I started t-ball practice at the beginning of March--wow and now it is almost April! We have had a few practices and my first game is this Saturday. I can't wait! I love hitting and running to the bases (with or without my bat in tow :) ) and grounding balls. I think I love wearing my batting gloves the most though! Last Sunday we took a trip up to Canyon Lake with our friends the Seatons, to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful weather. We had a fun filled day of waves, ducks, water and cactus. Such a strange thing--a canyon filled with water AND cactus. A true Arizona beauty. We were great first mates to the captain and earned our sea legs. I think we found our place to cool off for the summer!

Saturday night the big man came to a Christmas party we were at. Oh boy was I excited...sisters on the other hand, well let's just say she was happier on the sidelines. We took our annual trip to the mall to watch it snow. This year it has been unseasonably warm--it was actually 82 degrees on the day we watched the snow. We tried to dress warm to make it feel more like winter but by the end we were taking vests and scarfs off because it was just too darn hot! Watching the snow was still SO much fun. Catching snow flakes with our hands and in our mouth was such a treat. Sometimes I wish it snowed here just a few days out of the year!

(for those of you that don't know--snow machines are brought in, aka bubbles, to make it snow for 15 minutes. A true delight in a snow free town. :) )

Last weekend I played in my last soccer game of the season. The best part? Cupcakes and trophies at the end. I (along with most of my teammates) kept coming to the side and asking "Are we done yet?". That about sums up our season. :) It was great fun though and I can't wait to see what sport I try out next!

We were walking through the mall last week and there was the big man with NO line and all alone. He called out to me and told me to come sit on his lap. So I ran over as quick as I could and jumped up on up. Oh he was so nice! He asked me what I wanted for Christmas and we had a nice long chat. After that he gave me a coloring book and I was on my way. What a great unplanned treat!

We are back and fully recovered! Well as recovered as you are going to get anyway. :) The four of us road tripped to San Diego over Thanksgiving to visit our favorite friends Jared, Shari and their baby Jackson. Look at these sweet faces ready to partake in a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Two minutes after this photo was taken I had the biggest meltdown of my existence. Not really sure why but you know how it goes--your mom and dad want you to act really cute and sweet and 'eh' you just really don't feel like it. Needless to say, I do believe at one point, all of the kids were crying, the moms were running around trying to fix it and the dads weren't quite sure if they should eat or leave the room. By the time things calmed down Thanksgiving dinner became left overs and we were eating things heated up in front of the T.V. I know this is one Thanksgiving I will never forget! Thankfully Shari and Jared are really easy going and just went with the flow. I even think I heard a few giggles about it later in the evening when they were having "adult" time. Legoland--Thumps up across the board! Everyone in the family enjoyed this legoriffic place. Everything was built out of legos--benches, rides, signs, you name it--it was built out of legos. Coleman couldn't get enough of this little boy's dreamland. Race cars, helicopters, fire trucks and much more! The Harger's will definitely be visiting this place again. Fun, fun, fun!

What would a trip to California be without a visit to Sea World? Of course the animals were a HUGE it, especially Shampu (aka Shamu). A fun filled day spent with sea creatures--another Harger thumbs up.

A note from mom: It has been non-stop fun around here and I am afraid it is only going to get more hectic! Cool weather is slowly coming around but with it comes lots of things to do (hence the lack of blog posts!). Looking forward to more holidays and quality time with friends and family. Grandma and Papa Coleman visited a couple of weeks ago and we were able to play and have Halloween with them. Can't wait for them to come back. The time always goes so quickly! We hope everyone has had a wonderful fall so far. Looking forward to all the fun coming up. Hopefully the camera will be handy to capture all of those moments!

Trick-or-Treat

Whew! We made it though Halloween! We have been partying fools here--a playgroup party at the park, trick or treating at the retirement villas and two parties and trick or treating on Sunday night. We logged some time in our costumes--my shoulders were beat by Sunday night! I, of course was a garbage truck because I live and die for the Waste Management truck and Campbell was a fairy princess. Mom and I have been working on the garbage truck for a couple of weeks. Not too bad for a couple of boxes and spray paint! I LOVED being a garbage truck and parked it in the garage so I can still look at it everyday. I will probably be it again next year. :) We had a great time getting candy and being with our friends. Such a fun time of year!

I did my first pumpkin carve this year. I don't know why mom and dad never did this before with me...the gunk and the seeds and the pumpkin smell was SO fun! Why would anyone not want to do this with an impatient, strong willed child? :) I on the other hand was a star student. Mom helped me draw on my face, I watched ever so patiently as daddo cut, I assisted with the scooping of the guts and then lit it up with my pumpkin flashlight so perfectly. Now the debut of my masterpiece...

Look what was in our kitchen after nap? The pumpkin fairy dropped it off! I explored this fun thing for about 30 minutes. Mom said it was a great babysitter!

Papa Maurice (mom's grandpa) turned 85 in October so we went to Phoenix to help him celebrate. We had lunch, balloons and a cake to complete the party--carrot cake for the adults--purple, gooey, sprinkly cupcakes for the kids. What a way to celebrate 85! Happy b-day Papa Maurice!!

Are you looking for some new talent to join your band? Well Coleman and I just may fit the bill. Daddo brought us back a couple of harmonicas from his last business trip--what a treat! We figured these things out in a snap and we have been making music ever since.

Saturday was my first soccer game! There was running, there were making goals on the wrong side, there were tears, there were snacks, there were laughs by the parents. The list could go on and on. Action packed I tell you. I had a lot of fun until someone took the ball away from me. Umm...Rude! I made a goal too but I cried again because the other team ALMOST took it away from me. There were a lot of life lessons learned on Saturday. I have a feeling we will be talking about all these things at practice this week. Despite all the tears I still had a lot of fun and was ready for another game after lunch and a nap. Oh how sleep and a full tummy can change the tune of things.

Now that it is cooling off we were able to go to story time outside last week! We listened to stories about bunnies, sang songs and watched a puppet show. Fun!

It is soccer time here in Tucson and boy am I READY!! We went to Dick's to load up on socks, shin guards, shoes and a new ball. I don't know who was more excited, me or Dad.

Art in the Park

Last week we met up with our friends and had an art lesson in the park. We talked about colors, landscape and texture. I loved painting the Arizona sky. The sun was my favorite. Here are some pics from the day.

Our new favorite afternoon snack is a little frozen yogurt from Orange Leaf. We get to fill up our own cups and pick our favorite toppings. Yum! I love chocolate-vanilla twist with M&M's on top.

We took a family trip to the zoo last weekend. We wanted to show daddo some of our favorite animal spots. I loved the turtles and of course Coleman loved the giraffes. I am still trying to decide if I like those long necked fellows. Their tongues are kind of gross.

We took our annual trip to Howard's Apple Orchard this past week. What a great day with great friends and great pickings! We were able to get apples, cucumbers, peaches and tomatoes. Campbell picked a peach first thing and enjoyed it the ENTIRE time. I loved picking the apples and feeding the toy ponies the most. We were both sweaty, dirty, and full by the end of the morning. That is my kind of day!

My friend Darcy really knows how to have a great time. She has all kinds of princess dress up clothes that we played with on Friday night. We actually argued over the pink crown and who got to wear it. I had no idea this princess world even existed. What a find!

This was our last trip to "Mom's mornings" at Breakers. All summer the water park opens early for little kiddos. No big people allowed! We have the whole kid area to ourselves for two hours. Last week was the last time before school started. We took advantage of the water and had a great time.

A couple of weeks ago we traveled up to Phoenix to check out the fish at the new Sea Life aquarium. The sting rays were our favorite! What a nice cool way to spend a HOT day. Inside, underwater and in the dark. We are starting to feel like hermits here.

Mom is sorry for the lapse in postings! Summer days go by so fast! We are recovering from birthday parties and the heat. :) Can't wait for a little monsoon rain--hope you are staying cool!

The blog is up to date now...enjoy and Mom promises she will try to stay more current with pictures. Give her a little grace though--Campbell and I just have so much fun all day long. She is having a hard time keeping up. Poor girl. :)
